DATU’s design is a playful mixture of traditional Historic Dutch “Landhuis” architecture, Leeward island tropical architecture, and elements of global tropical architecture . To create this look and feel, a lot of attention has been devoted to exterior and interior detailing, both in the architectural design as well as in the colours and finish material textures used. 
DATU has an enormous covered wrap-around porch and outdoor kitchen terrace, extending the livable area by a good 90m2/1.000 sq. ft. In keeping with historical tropical cooling methods, the patio keeps the sun out and maintains a cool environment inside the home. The naturally cooling always present trade winds do the rest.
